Unionville’s 5th Annual “Jungle Bell Jubilee” holiday celebration and carol sing will be held Saturday, December 5th from 4 to 6 p.m. in downtown Unionville. Co-sponsored by the Unionville Village Improvement Association and Unionville Museum, this event kicks off the season by bringing together Unionville’s holiday traditions in one festive event for all to enjoy.
“The Jubilee is filled with family friendly holiday activities and cheer and promotes our downtown businesses and restaurants.” said Tim LeBouthillier, UVIA president and event organizer. “We encourage residents to stop by a shop downtown, join us for some festivities, sing a few carols, then dine out at one of our many restaurants.”
The event begins with family activities from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Stop by the Unionville Youth Center for cookie decorating and take a photo in front of the holiday backdrop. Kid’s games will be offered next door at the Youth Center Annex and Union School PTO will also be sponsoring holiday ornament making at the First Congregational Church. After 5 p.m., the event centers around Unionville’s Gazebo in Clover Pinney Park, which is transformed into “Jingle Bell Square”. Enjoy a bonfire and DJ, free refreshments and hot cocoa, and a carol sing at 5:30 pm. The fun concludes with a visit from Santa around 5:45 p.m.
The event is free, and is supported by contributions, in-kind donations and volunteers from the local boy and girl Scouts, Union School PTO, the Town of Farmington, First Congregational Church, Unionville Lions Club, Burn Records, DJ Services, United Methodist Church, and the Tunxis Hose Fire Company. In conjunction with the activities, the Unionville Museum will hold its annual free Yuletide Open House from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. featuring a holiday trees designed by local businesses. There will also be hand painted ornaments for auction painted by local artists and refreshments.
After the Jingle Bell Jubilee concludes, First Church Congregational at 61 Main Street Unionville will be hosting an Irish Family Christmas Concert featuring a live performance by the Willoughby Brothers vocal group from Coolboy, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, beginning at 7 PM. The Willoughby Brothers create a very special sound with a repertoire featuring a blend of Irish ballads, popular classics and contemporary songs.
