A few passing rain showers could not dampen the enthusiasm or crowds at the 2012 Unionville Festival. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made the day such as success. This signature annual event in Unionville drew thousands who dropped in from far and wide to say hello to old friends, sample local treats, support their local charities, participate in countless activities, hear some great music, run a race, view incredible art and just plain have some fun. A particular hit this year was the photo booth located inside the Tunxis Hose Firehouse. Friends and families had a blast posing for candids and got to take an instant shot home with them. Kids and parents also enjoyed the roving railroad train that rode along Mill Street. And the food...To much to choose in one day...
I could not begin to adequately name and thank all of the dedicated committee members, annual volunteers, generous sponsors, supporters, vendors, town workers and elected officials, civic and non-profit groups, businesses, performers, school teams and organizations, firefighters and police, and others who made the day an success. And of course the attendees - its who we do it for.
For anyone who has ever put on an event of this size, you know that the set-up and the clean-up is always a huge task and alwys early and late when you are the most tired. Over the past few years we have been grateful to many sports teams like the Farmington High Football and Soccer teams as well as members of the local Boys Scouts troops who have assisted us when we needed it most. And they do with a smile on their faces and that is very cool. Thank you to all for all of your great support. We'll see you next year.
Our motto at UVIA is that we are in the business of making memories. I hope that everyone involved this year made a few on Sunday. I know we did.
Next up - save the date for Saturday, December 1st for the second Annual Jingle Bell Jubilee. It's right around the corner... :)
