The newly formed group Bicycle Friendly Farmington is also sponsoring a Family Fun bicycle Ride at 3 p.m. This 2.5 mile ride leaves the Unionville Gazebo via Perry Street and will connect to the Farmington River Trail, ride to South Main St and return to the Unionville Festival via Mill St. All ages are welcome but children under 12 need to be with an adult. All riders must wear helmets. Decorated bikes are welcome and bicycles may be parked in front of Union School prior to the ride. Riders will form up beginning at 2:45 p.m. for a prompt 3 p.m. start. Also as in past years, runners can participate in the 5K Road Race and kids fun race through Unionville sponsored by the Farmington Rotary. Visit their website for more information at www.rotaryroadrace.org.
Last year’s event partner sponsors included Farmington Bank, Stop & Shop, People’s United Bank, and Unionville Lions Club. Gold sponsors include David Salon, George’s Pizza, Unionville Auto-Body, Labelle Chateau, Rotary Club of Farmington, and Waste Material Trucking. Silver include DeLaurentis Management, EDM-architects/engineers, Farmington Chamber of Commerce, and Scully, Nicksa, and Reeve, LLP. “This special community event celebrates the revitalization of Unionville and the businesses and people who make up the fabric of our downtown.” said Tim LeBouthillier, UVIA President. “We invite residents folks far and wide to join us and advantage of this unique and fun opportunity to show your support of our community and have a little fun too.” he added.
